The Custom LED 2011-2013 Yamaha FZ8 Blaster-X Integrated LED Tail Light was designed to function as a direct replacement for the OEM tail light. The unit will install with exactly the same fit and electrical connectors as the OEM unit. No cutting, splicing, or bodywork modifications are required, what so ever.
There may be additional accessories required to correct blinker problems on your motorcycle if you remove your OEM turn signals. These accessories can not be built into the tail light, and are generally optional and specific to different customers needs, so they are sold separately. Please see the recommended accessories in the bullet list above, and read about the general issues and solutions in our Frequent Questions Page. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Installation of this product requires that you remove the OEM tail light from the motorcycle, and install this unit in its place. Please consult a qualified technician or your repair manual for the proper procedure to remove the OEM tail light.

All around! Great Product!
Very pleased with this item. Installation on my 2013 FZ1 was very simple. True "plug & play". Do take into consideration, though, I am a professional motorcycle mechanic, so I may have a slight advantage. I have installed many other similar products and this one would have to be at the top of my list! Great quality for the price! Very bright, signals are obvious and clear, strobe mode is super sick. (Also purchased the ELFR-1 Flasher Relay and Blaster-X Control Switch). One thing I would recommend is adding some adhesive foam if needed for vibration, I cut pieces to match the OEM light, very simple. Thanks for the great product, I'm 100% satisfied!
I think it is 95% perfect. Only thing I would change is the hookup to the stock wiring. It utilizes a strange plug into the factory bulb socket instead of plugging into the factory connector as one would expect and is used of the turn signals.
2014 FZ1 Integrated Tail Light
Installation took about an hour due to Yamaha design and not the Custom LED product. Once installed it worked perfectly on the first use. This with a yoshimura tail tidy really cleaned up the back of the bike and make it much more presentable. It shines bright when the bike is on and brighter when the brake is applied. The turn signals are equally bright and give clear indication of my intent to anyone who may be behind me. I recommend the product.

WAY better than stock and worth your consideration
Great light and all functions are noticeable brighter than at least the one other LED light we tried for the FZ1. The other was a good running and brake, but not nearly enough contrast with the signals. The Blaster is better all around. * Running light, great! * Brake light, with the few flashes on initial application, great! * Turn signal without the brakes applied, great! * Turn signal with the brakes applied, average. * Strobe feature is just plain awesome! Very trick, but also really noticeable as a hazard light. Only suggestion (signal related): When the brake is applied with the a signal on (as approaching a traffic light or a stop sign), the light just alternates between orange and red and is not nearly as high contrast as when the signal is used when the brake is not on (as for a lane change). For the next SW update, Id suggest considering a full contrast signal for all operational combinations. That one minor suggestion aside, we're VERY happy with the light and if they offered one for the FJR (contact me for programming suggestions), I'd buy it. This will be my first stop for a tail light when the next bike shows up, which could be any day :)
Hello Steve! Thank you for your review and suggestions! We at Custom LED believe that braking should always have priority over a turn signal. You are more likely to get rear-ended from a misinterpreted brake signal, than you are to get side-swiped by a misinterpreted turn signal. For this reason, we chose to have the red LEDs alternate with yellow on the turn side when braking AND turning. Otherwise, you would only have half of the tail light showing brakes as long as the signals were on. That was not sufficient in our testing.
